The Modern Screenshot & OCR App for Windows.
EiSen gives you PrintScreen capture with an automatic Ctrl + Shift + 5 fallback, step numbering, blur, and native on-device Windows OCR — distributed through the Microsoft Store.
Microsoft Store available now • Direct current-user NSIS fallback available • PrtScn fallback included • Zero Telemetry
Windows direct-download note
The Microsoft Store version is the recommended Windows install and receives Store-managed updates. The direct NSIS .exe fallback is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may show Unknown publisher or Windows protected your PC, and managed devices may block it. Verify the SHA-256 sidecar on GitHub Releases before running.

Why use EiSen on Windows
Capture, annotate, and OCR, all on your own computer.
Fast Capture with Rust
Built with Rust and Tauri v2, EiSen freezes the display under your cursor and opens the selection overlay right away.
Native Windows.Media.Ocr
Extract text from any capture offline using Microsoft's native WinRT OCR engine. No cloud service required.
Zero Cloud, 100% Local
EiSen has no upload feature, so your captures, code, and customer data stay on your device.
PrintScreen Capture with Fallback
Replace or augment Windows Snipping Tool with the supported PrtScn binding. If another app owns it, EiSen switches to Ctrl + Shift + 5 so capture stays available.
Numbered Steps, Blur & Redact
Create beautiful bug reports and visual guides with auto-incrementing ① ② ③ step badges, Gaussian blur, and a solid Redact block for secrets.
Pixel Loupe & Eyedropper
Inspect any pixel with a real-time magnified grid and copy HEX color codes directly to clipboard with a single click.

Windows FAQ
Common questions about running EiSen on Windows 10 and 11.
Which versions of Windows are supported?
EiSen 1.0 in the Microsoft Store supports 64-bit Windows 10 (version 2004 or newer) and Windows 11. It uses modern WinRT APIs and native Rust bindings for maximum performance.
Does EiSen require Administrator privileges to install?
No! The EiSen installer is configured to install cleanly into your user profile (currentUser mode). You can run it on work computers or restricted workstations without needing administrator elevation.
How does the on-device Windows OCR work without internet?
EiSen integrates directly with the native Windows.Media.Ocr WinRT framework built into modern Windows. It recognizes text across your installed system languages locally, keeping all data strictly private on your computer.
Can I use the PrintScreen (PrtScn) key to trigger EiSen?
Yes! EiSen prefers the PrintScreen (PrtScn) key on Windows. If another application already owns it, EiSen automatically switches to Ctrl + Shift + 5; both choices are available in Windows Settings.
Is EiSen completely free or is there a catch?
EiSen is 100% free and open-source under the MIT license. There are no subscriptions, no ads, no telemetry, and no premium paywalls.
